
In the continuing blend and merging of media, the creators of the hit MTV show “Punk’d” and AOL announced that they are going ahead with plans to produce a series of short-form shows for AOL.com and its AOL Instant Messenger service.

The deal will be with Katalyst Films Inc., which is owned by Ashton Kutcher and producer Jason Goldberg. The arrangement includes the making of five programs with 20 episodes each.

According to Goldberg, who was interviewed by phone, "The programming is going to have a severe attitude behind it, There might be hurt feelings."

He went on to say, keeping things hidden for the most part, that it would also include a lot of comedy along with the rest.

For the most part it will include new actors unknown to the general public. It’s first appearance will be later this year.
In a constant search for way to increase advertising revenues, Time Warner has turned its attention upon free programming. This has a lot of potential as AOL has approximately 43 million customers’ use the AIM service to send and receive messages, said Time Warner.

The basic premise of the shows themselves is that it will present various celebrities performing pranks upon one another. According to Viacom Inc.'s MTV, it was one of the most talked about shows on their network.
