In a recent post I talked about how there is a new “evaluation index” to rate the celebrities on how their persona and lifestyle coincides with the culture of a company that is seeking the service of celebrities to promote their products.
a
The index gave a recent rating to the two stars that have the most selling power, and hands down it was Tom Hanks and Oprah Winfrey.
a
This was out of hundreds of celebrities that have been targeted as possible spokespersons for companies represented by advertising agencies.
a
Two-time Oscar-winner Hanks has acted in more than 50 films, including 'Castaway', 'Forrest Gump' and 'Saving Private Ryan'.
a
Winfrey is of course popular for her TV talk show, which attracts 30 million viewers every week in the , not including other countries.
Jeff Chown reiterates that until this time companies and agencies had no way of knowing how to evaluate the worth of a celebrity in relationship to specific brands.
a
He says, “We're trying to determine whether this person would help sell a product to a particular demographic.”
a
Concerning Hanks, to show forth his enduring popularity, in spite of not being in any released films last year, he was still named the favorite movie star, an honor received for the second year in a row.
