With Mariah Carey being the world's top-selling female artist, Pepsi(PBG) is now zeroing in on her current popularity having signed her to write and record 20 original cell phone ringtones via Motorola(MOT).
I have to admit that I was somewhat surprized, along with others, that she is the top-selling female artist. There are a number of others that come to mind before her. Nonetheless she is and Pepsi is moving quickly to take advantage of it while it lasts.
The deal is designed to start in May because it will be aligned with the start of Carey's first tour she has launched in three years.
Don't you find it interesting the continually growing outlets that entertainers and stars are being exposed to. I think years ago this would have been considered something that someone with very low popularity might have tried to try to get them in the public eye again.
It seems that artists and entertainers are starting to realize that people are now using numerous devices that they want to be reached on at their time and convenience. I think even with something a simple as ringtones, this could be a really good move for Carey and Pepsi as it will reproduce itself over and over again in the ears of the listeners.
Hmmm. Anybody want the bizofshowbiz.com to be on their ringtone?
