The Oscars, which was shown on the first Sunday of the month this year because they didn't want to compete with the closing ceremonies of the Olympics, has been scheduled to move back for the 79th annual Academy Awards.
Next year they will be shown on February 25, 2007 - the last Sunday of the month, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. It will televised by ABC-TV.
Sid Ganis, the president of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, announced the Oscar date on Monday, saying that this earlier date will result in the nomination and balloting process to take place earlier than last years process.
The nominees will be announced on January 23. The final ballots must be mailed by January 31 and due by February 20.
