Making his first public appearance since he had surgery to remove a tumor, at the Dressed to Kilt fashion show in New York, Sean Connery let us know that that after one more film project, he is calling it quits for good in show business.
Connery, who is now 75 years old, is doing the voiceover for a character called Billi the Vet, a Glasgow Animation film.
He assures us that it will without a doubt be his final project. "I have retired for good," he said. It brings and end to his career which has spanned 50 years in the business. In June of this year he will be awarded with the American Film Institute's lifetime achievement award.
Connery commented: "It means a tremendous amount, especially because of some of the things I've said about Hollywood."
The tumor he had operated on, which was on a kidney, was found to be benign. He said that he has had some struggles since Christmas with it, but he is now feeling fine.
In reference to his last film, which will be his 76th, he has offered his services for free to the production company. He said: "The animated film is a different direction for me and I'm also working on a history book."
Connery, who along with his wife, Micheline, live in the Bahamas, said that the film will be based in Scotland, a fact that Connery said "gives an insight into a lot of Scottish characteristics and our humour."
