TVGuide.com is getting into the blogging act as it has launched what it is calling "one of the largest professional entertainment blog communities on the Internet," which was announced today by Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc.(NASDAQ: GMST).
At this time there are over 65 entertainment blogs populating the site. It features commentary and reporting from both TV Guide magazine and TVguide.com writers and editors.
The blog network gives the users the opportunity to respond with comments and interact with the site's critics.
Paul Greenberg, general manager of TV Guide Online said, "AtTVGuide.com, we are focused on becoming the leading destination for television information and entertainment guidance. The addition of blogs and community is a natural progression for us and will enable TVGuide.com to provide an enhanced experience for our users.
"We've learned very quickly that our users are looking for new ways to engage with others who share their same passion for entertainment."
When I personally checked it out, I have to be honest I was pretty underwhelmed at this point with what was offered. I was only able to check out a representative number of the blogs, but they had nothing that isn't being offered anywhere else in the blog world.
They had a large amount of individual shows that were being blogged about, along with the typical gossip stuff that you can read anywhere.
As bizofshowbiz.com has its main purpose as the business side of the equation, it doesn't really have that much interest in the endless gossip side of things that permeate both the on and offline worlds. But if that type of thing interests you, you may want to take a look here.
One unique feature that is offered that you may want to check into is that it offers the individual an opportunity to create their own blog concerning the entertainment industry using the sites own blogging tools. That is an idea that may have some promise.
Check it out and let us know what you think.
