Ron Howard concerned, "frustrated" over poor reviews for "The Da Vinci Code."

You know that the movie industry is in trouble when you hear statements like 'Hollywood is counting on _____ fill in the blank.'
A couple of weeks ago it was Mission Impossible III that was looked at as being the beginning of a surging explosive year for Hollywood. It performed far below expectations.
Now everybody is saying that "The Da Vinci Code" is going to be the movie that is going to be the movie to move things forward. Has everybody already forgotten about the "Poseidon" disaster - viewers that is. They are starting to run out of movies that are going to be the one to make this summer "great."
There are predictions that swing from $50 million to $100 million for the opening of "Da Vinci." That is quite a stretch by anyone's measurements. The truth is that Hollywood in a place where they can trust nothing that they put forth.
Already reviewers are saying that it's not really that good of a movie; that's it's not very engaging at all. Most of the movie is only built around the hype and controversy rather than the quality.
My thoughts are that even if it does pretty good, the failure of Mission Impossible III and the poor performance of "Poseidon," isn't a very encouraging sign for the times ahead. Hollywood has waited extremely long to respond to what's happening on the Internet. That is where the great majority of Interest has already moved.
Whenever an industry is always trying to hit a home run, rather than try to go with more offerings that together make things successful, you know that it's in trouble. Hollywood is in trouble whether "The Da Vinci Code" does well or not.
