I don't know about you, but I don't like this. Stewart has already been convicted and served time, there is nothing more to clear. Other than adversely affecting the company and the shareholders in the company, there is nothing that this can do for anybody; including Martha.
If Stewart had been acquitted, I could see this as being a possibility, but being already guilty of the crime, what does she have to gain. Whenever this part of the suit is over, not many people are going to care one way or the other.
There is nothing in this except for Stewart. She wants to win this so that she can take back her CEO spot in the company. But as many are saying, with another trial it could really hurt the company (MSO) as it is finally beginning to turn around under the leadership of Susan Lyne, president and CEO.
I know one thing, there seems to be a lot of risk for Stewart. There has been a pretty forgiving attitude overall by the general public, but to needlessly fight this civil suit for the purpose of her own gain alone, could not only turn the public against her, but possibly result in numerous lawsuits if her actions cause a lot of damage to the company.
She still has a lot of influence with the company, she should just be satisfied with this and think of all the people that this will affect.
Martha should settle. Do you agree?
