This shirt in the image says it all: "Your failed business model is not our problem." The entertainment industry still doesn't get it.
Just last week they were at it again, suing XM Satellite Radio because of the Pioneer Inno XM2go portable XM receiver.
What has the RIAA in another fit is that the Inno is able to receive satellite-radio shows and record them. What's the difference between this and all the other devices used for decades for recording? None other than it is digital. In other words it's consumer-friendly and can record at a higher quality.
As most know by now, the entertainment industry hates digital with a passion. They think it's great for themselves but they resent it being in the hands of the consumers.
The RIAA says that from the ability to record the XM signal onto your Inno, that "induces" consumers to infringe on their copyrights. What's dishonest about this is that you can't get music off the Inno unless you buy it.
What the entertainment industry is trying to do is so confuse the real issue, that they convince consumers to abdicate their rights. I hope you don't fall for this.
History has shown that when copying technology is introduced, not long afterward the entertainment industry is making huge profits from it.
So I go back to the slogan above: "Your failed business model is not our problem." We have a right to copy and burn those things that we have. Big brother entertainment industry needs to adjust and bring forth new models that will work.
