According to trade paper Daily Variety, TV hit "24" has been slated for a bigscreen production. Series creators Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow have inked the deal with 20th Century Fox to bring the popular show to the theater.
While there are no current deals in place with the existing cast, star Kiefer Sutherland has made it known that he is interested in taking on the role of Jack Bauer in the movie version.
One thing that will change, said Variety, is the real-time concept that is so distinctive in the TV series, won't be part of the film. It will have its own unique plot, but no details are being released at this time.
The project will probably be shot in spring and summer of 2007, between season six and seven.
The series itself saw an unprecendeted 14 percent growth in its fifth season with close to 14 million viewers watching every week.
