According to Nielsen Media Research, the Mexican and Brazilian World Cup teams are the favorites for Univision viewers. This includes all matches played up to today.
Mexico's opening game against Iran on June 11, has been the most watched match to date, drawing a 2.7 rating/7.4 share with almost 3 million households watching and 5 million overall tuning in. Mexico won the battle 3-1.
The Brazil vs. Australia and Mexico vs. Angola match came in a second place tie for viewership with a 2.2 rating among households.
The majority of Univision's broadcasts have been in these time slots: 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. ET. The 8:30 slot was the least viewed time with an average of 1 million households.
The increase in viewership has been phenomenal over the last two World Cups in 1998 and 2002 as it has increased a dynamic 84 percent and 130 percent over those years
