Paul Newman and Richard Petty were picked by Pixar (PIXR) to represent the voices of two main characters in the upcoming release of "Cars."
Petty retains his title of "The King" with his character, as that is the what the film's top car is called and which is voiced by Petty. The car also employs the characteristics of the Number 43 Superbird that Petty drove.
Newman takes on the voice of Doc Hudson, an old '51 Hornet, the towns old judge and leader.
Petty who is not to impressed with Hollywood's past enactments of racing said that it was odd to him that this animated film comes more to approximating the real feel of the track than regular movies.
Newman says "They have an extraordinary sense of detail, both in the creative and the technical end."
"And they don't get rushed, which I think is critical. They have the luxury of control and they have the luxury of time, and that gives them a terrific advantage. That, and the gifts they have."
Release Date: June 9, 2006 (wide)
