The American Film Institute recognized the distinguished career of Sean Connery by bestowing upon him the annual Life Achievement award at Hollywood's Kodak Theater.
Attending the affair were fellow AFI honorees along with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Andy Garcia and Mike Myers.
With the award, Connery became the 34th recipient of the honor, which is the highest one bestowed by the American Film Institute.
Heavy hitters like Orson Welles, Meryl Streep, Clint Eastwood and Tom Hanks have been past winners of the award.
Connery commented that "I got my big break when I was five years old, and it's taken more than 70 years to realize it," the thesp said. "At five, I learned to read, and I would not be standing here without the books, plays and scripts."The American Film Institute's salute to Sean Connery will be shown on the USA Network on June 21.
