Touchstone TV signed "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes to a two-year deal for $10 million. This makes her one of the highest paid writer-producers in the industry.
ABC is counting on the show to propel them forward next season, and the premium contract reflects that priority.
Rhimes is also working on a second show that involves a group of female journalists.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the former Grey's Anatomy actor whose character was killed off in the season finale, has been announced as one of the actors participating in the new series.
Rhimes is a screenwriter in her own right as she worked with films like "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge" and "The Princess Diaries 2."
