With Spain emerging as a potential winner of the World Cup title, their fans are keeping a watch on their favorite team.
In their last victory over Tunisia, which they won 3-1, the two channels that broadcasted the game reached a combined audience of 11.6 million. According to media research firm Barlovento Communication, this makes it the most watched game since 2002.
In Spain itself, one of the premiere spots to watch was in Colon Square. A total of 20,000 fans congregated to see their Marea Roja (Red Tide) as they are called, on the huge screens showing the game.
The last time Spaniards tuned in to watch in larger numbers was their heartbreaking loss to South Korea in the penalty shoot-out in the 2002 World Cup.
Under Coach Luis Aragones, Spain is now unbeaten in 24 straight.
