Robert Downey Jr., whose life has been anything but uneventful, has signed on with HarperCollins Publishers to write his memoirs.
Downey, the 41-year-old actor has made the deal HarperEntertainment, an imprint of HarperCollings Publishers. The book is planned to be released in 2008.
While the terms of the deal weren't disclosed, the publisher did promise a "candid look at the highs and lows of his life and career."
Marjorie Braman, an executive with the publishing company, said "He has an intelligence which shines through all his performances, revealing his intellect as well as his acting abilities, his dramatic personal life, often at odds with his career, adds a layer of complexity to who he is."
Downeys' heavily reported problems with drugs had led him to a prison, rehabilitation and probation cycle in the 1990s.
