Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. (SIRI) showed solid growth in the second quarter as its subscriber base grew by 600,640. This is a huge 64% increase over last year during the same period of time.
For the quarter they ended up with 4.7 million subscribers, which is still far behind leader XM, which currently has just under 7 million subscribers.
XM (XMSR) added just under 400,000 new subscribers for the quarter, a decline of 38% from last years second quarter.
Part of XM's problem has been they had new radios introduced that didn't meet federal standards.
Stock prices responded by going up around 4% for Sirius and dropping almost 5% for XM before the market even opened.
