
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is now the first film of the year to make to number one, three weekends in a row. It has now taken in over $300 million in record time; taking only 16 days. The former record was held by Star Wars Episode III, which accomplished the same feat in 17 days.
The Sony animated release Monster House opened at second place with an estimated $23 million debuting at 3,553 theaters. It took in $6,473 on average.
M. Night Shyamalan's newest supernatural thriller Lady in the Water came in a disappointing third while grossing an estimated $18.2M from 3,235 theaters, averaging $5,629 per site.
The hit comedy, You, Me, and Dupree came in a sold fourth in its second weekend dropping a moderate 41%, taking in approximately $12.8 million.
Little Man, in its second weekend dropped more than "Dupree" at a 49% fall from the first weekend, totaling around $40.6 million over 10 days.
