Blue Shield of California has been picked by the Motion Picture Industry Health Plan to provide coverage of its over 95,000 participants.
Don't think of the big stars when considering this as they won't be covered.
Janet Widmann, Blue Shield's vice president of Labor, Trust and Public Sector said, "We are excited to work with the largest health plan in one of California's most important industries, we are committed to building a true partnership based on transparency, accountability and aligned incentives."
Workers that will be covered by the plan will include cinematographers, make-up artists, plumbers, painters, script supervisors, musicians, sound technicians, costume designers along with many others.
The deal begins on today, Aug. 1 and takes over from their competitor Blue Cross of California.
