For a short time, Amanda Congdon, former Rocketboom host, was a hot commodity. She evidently decided to go her own way thinking that she was the reason for the success of the online show.
Now there was an announcement that she will be working with an online company called PopURLs, who in their own words is an online aggregator of popular websites.
Robert Scoble blasts the project and the poor way the PR has been handled:
"If Amanda had announced a video project that’d be one thing. But this really is lame on all sides. She had one chance to get the world’s attention (it’s too late, actually, most of the world’s press that wrote about Rocketboom has already forgotten about that whole story and moved on, they certainly won’t pay attention here)."
From the very beginning this was a huge mistake on her part. When she left Rocketboom, she had nothing at all to go to. There was no backup plan or opportunity in place. Like the Saturday Night Live show, which is a star creator, not the other way around, she didn't realize that the show was making her, not her that was making Rocketboom.
We've talked on bizofshowbiz before on how she had to do something very quickly or the world would forget her. That has already happened.
To add to the problem, this announcement is made, and the so-called PR is so bad that overall there is nothing that is done to offer the opportunity for any viral effect.
Even though nobody is paying attention anymore, an attempt to remind people that you're out there and are still in the game, has to be done much better than the way it was handled.
It seems that the plan she had has backfired overall and now Amanda is having a battle with finding herself in the aftermath. It's being reflected in the decisions being made.
The point in all of this is that it was an opportunity to get some needed publicity that was completely missed.

Please do better research on that, popurls is neither a company nor is this a PR message or whatever
thanks,
