Media buyers like what they see on Fox as they prepare to defend their last two season wins. Many like it even more as the last couple of years Fox hasn't offered especially strong fall lineups, but this year have geared up with several new offerings that have some promise.
Most believe that even if the new shows don't do that well, Fox will be in the No. 1 position when they begin the "American Idol" franchise in the midseason.
Steve Sternberg, executive vice president of audience analysis at Magna Global, says, “They have a few new shows, ‘Standoff,’ ‘Justice,’ ‘Vanished.’ If one of these does well, they will be in fantastic shape, if they all flop, Fox will still be in good shape. ‘American Idol’ covers up a
lot of their problems, and there’s no reason to think that show will decline this year.”
He added that it's possible that Fox may be the only network that increases ratings this season.
