
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, the stock car racing spoof, raced to first place at the weekend box office, taking in an estimated $23 million for the three days. Talladega is expected to pass the $100 million mark this week.
One of the unexpected surprises of the weekend was the strong showing of dance flick Step Up, coming in a solid second place with $21 million.

Step Up, had an explosive opening as it averaged $8,539 per theater, while debuting at 2,467 sites.
While business was down 9 percent from last weeks offerings, overall business is still up by 6 percent over last year at this stage.
