The classical music siblings The 5 Browns have now stayed No. 1 on the Billboard's Traditional Classical chart for 20 straight weeks with their newest album No Boundaries. Not only are they number one, but they have outsold the No. 2 album by more than double.
The family performs on a multi-piano platform, with all being virtuoso concert pianists. The 5 Browns - Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae, also had their first album benefit from No Boundaries, as for two weeks it was No. 2 on the list, after enjoying eight weeks at number 1 in early 2005; No Boundaries lifting it back into the rankings.
When they perform together, it is both individually and in a variety of combinations of the pianists. Their debut album brought them quick acclaim as Billboard ranked the siblings as one of the Top Classical Artists of 2005.
They were launched to fame when they made appearances on Oprah and 60 Minutes. This resulted in wide newspaper and magazine coverage in both North America and the UK.
The No Boundaries album includes extraordinary interpretations of classics like Stravinsky’s The Firebird and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Dvorak’s “Going Home” theme from his Ninth Symphony is also included in the mix.
While each was trained at the Juilliard School of Music at the same time, they are a close but each with unique individual characteristics.
Their desire is to take their music and bring it to the largest, longest, and most youthful audiences they can find. I think they'll bring a few of us older folks along for the ride.
