Understanding the importance of the international market, Will Smith and his business partner James Lassiter have taken their company Overbrook Entertainment, and struck a deal UTV, a business run by Ronnie Screwvala. The deal involves making two movies for the India market. Neither of them will star Smith.
The deal, according to the International Herald Tribune, quoting the New York Times said:
"UTV will pay the films' costs up to a specified sum; after that amount, Overbrook has to raise the money. But the burden is on Smith and Lassiter to develop a script and hire the cast.
Smith said during an interview concerning the international market: "It's been said, 'Why sell something to 10 people when you can sell it to 10 million people?' You have to have a global perspective."
This isn't the first deal for Smith's company as they had a deal to produce movies with Universal Pictures, but after three years there was no offers to produce.
