Bouncing Beyonce and Jay-z out of first place on the Billboard Dance Chart ("Deja Vu," was definitely expected to remain number one on the Billboard Dance Single Sales weekly chart), The Cruxshadows, an independent band, came from nowhere and took over first place on the Billboard Dance Chart for the week with "Sophia."
Dancing Ferret Discs, an independent record label based in Philadelphia, released the track, which also came in at number 7 on the general Billboard Single Sales chart.
Dancing Ferret's Patrick Rodgers said, "Even we are a bit surprised, demand for the band is constantly increasing, but in terms of supply, we haven't had a new single from them in a long time."
The band's singer who goes by the stage name "Rogue," said that their success is directly related to their core fans and continuous touring; as the band performs between 100-120 shows a year.
In an interesting side to the story, Rodgers added that the fans literally had a hand in the success of the single, as the manufacturing plant had to get rid of the first run because of mistakes. The Cruxshadows had the company send the CDs to their Atlanta show and had the fans help them to put the discs together for sale.
With loyal fans like that and their hard work, Cruxshadow could have a bright future ahead of them.

I'm sure the big dogs at the major labels are really freaking out. Things like this aren't supposed to happen, independent labels are not supposed to have successful bands. Especially lowly bands that push their pampered, babied million dollar superstars out of their "given on a silver platter" #1 spot. I purchased the cd through Dancing Ferret to give my support. Fans of the goth/industrial underground should do the same. Kick some ass Cruxshadows.
