For a company that was beleaguered for a number of years, The Walt Disney Co. (DIS) has been doing just about everything right in the recent moves it has made. Coming fresh off its huge blockbuster hit Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, they are now looking at creating another hit based upon one of their theme parks.
Citing a story by the Hollywood Reporter, E! Online said that the team of Al Gough and Miles Millar, of CW's Smallville fame, were signed to write a screenplay for an action-adventure flick based on the popular Disneyland attraction, the Jungle Cruise.
While the Jungle Cruise is on a boat, as is Pirates, it will be set in the 20th century, according to the Disney studio.
Disney is in an uphill climb here as they haven't been able to dig into their other theme parks to create successful movies. They've tried with others like Country Bears and The Haunted Mansion without any success. Still, with the boat, adventure and a dangerous river theme, who knows if it can capture the imaginations of those that love the "Pirates" adventures?
