While it's not exactly ground breaking, Sony Ericsson did enter the online music store market on Tuesday with its announcement concerning M-Buzz, which they've created for the purpose of showcasing "breaking new and developing artists." The two phones offering the service, as they announced earlier this year, will be the W850 and W950 Walkman® phones. They will be shipped to European, Asian and Latin American markets during the second half of 2006, according to their web site.
In an interesting side to all of it, they will not offer the service to the North American market in the beginning of the promotion.
To get it going strongly, the service, along with M-Buzz, will be used on the existing PlayNow platform, which has been changed so that it can now include full track music and enable the consumer to download music to their phones in only four clicks.

Included at the M-Buzz site will be musician biographies, schedules, full tracks, music video and tracks. The service is scheduled to launch on October 2 and will showcase Kish Mauve, Embassy, Dirty Perfect, FKLV, Iggy, The Head Set, Bobby Kray, Anjulie, Lights and Monte*Rosa.
David Hockman, Chairman and CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing said, “Sony/ATV Music Publishing is always looking for new and compelling ways to promote our artists and song writers, this partnership with Sony Ericsson gives our musicians and writers unprecedented exposure to music fans around the world, and we are very pleased to join with Sony Ericsson in bringing this unique music channel to consumers.”
