
The Television Bureau of Advertising released it projections for the next two years at its yearly Forecast Conference.
For 2007, they predicted that Total Spot TV revenues would fall by 1 and 3% compared with 2006. Local Spot revenue would be either the same or grow by a couple of percent. National Spot could drop as much as 7-9 percent.
Predictions for 2008 were much better as Total Spot TV revenues will grow by 8 to 10 percent, while Local Spot will increase by 5 to 7 percent. National Spot in 2008 will grow a huge 12 to 14 percent according to their projections.
The greatest area of growth will be TV station Web sites, which are forecast to surge by 30 to 40 percent in each of the next two years.
Their web site said: "...market drivers in 2007 would be consumer confidence (affected by employment, housing and terrorism), the impact of oil prices on consumer spending, the automotive and political categories, and emerging new technologies of search, wireless, VOD, DVRs and E-business."
