The Weinstein Company and the Motion Picture Distribution LP have reached an agreement to extend distribution rights in Canada for another year. It will extend the agreement until Dec. 31, 2010.
The Motion Picture Distribution LP, which is owned by Alliance Atlantis (AAC.B) and Movie Distribution Income Fund (FLM.UN), has the rights in the deal to acquire all Canadian distribution of films released by the Weinstein Company and Dimension Films.
Motion Picture Distribution LP CEO John Bailey said, "It is gratifying for MPD to extend on our long-standing relationship with the exceptionally talented Weinstein Company."
The Weinstein brothers, Bob and Harvey added that "Alliance Atlantis continues to be the best distributor for our product in Canada."
No financial terms of the deal were disclosed.
