Ice T, in his usual controversial way, has gotten all sorts of publicity for his new album, "Gangsta Rap." He got things going by posing with his wife, the model Coco, naked with him in bed.
So many brick-and-mortar and digital retailers wouldn't stock the original, so Ice T cleaned it up and offered it again with a sticker on it that says: "Censored: the highly anticipated new album from Ice T."
This is obviously a marketing strategy, and potentially a good one. Ice T has teamed up with The Orchard, the leading digital distributor to release the digital version of "Gangsta Rap." It will be released simultaneously with the CD.
Greg Scholl, chief executive of The Orchard said: "With Ice T's visibility at an all time high and his fans primed for the first new material from him since 1999, we're confident about our ability to deliver for him and his worldwide fans."
It will be released on October 31.
