Louisiana had cause for celebration today as Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco along with New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin, and other government officials got together with members of the Louisiana film community, and executives with LIFT Productions to partake in a ceremonial groundbreaking of the building of the largest production studio in the state.
To be called the Film Factory, it will be a huge 300,000 square foot motion picture production studio. Bayou Buzz says that it will include four state-of-the-art sound stages, a film training institute, and distribution house under one roof.
"Establishing the Film Factory is an aggressive step forward by Louisiana´s filming industry and it ensures that our state will be a
major player in this industry for the long term," Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco said. "This project provides the pieces we need to grow the filming industry across our state by combining a distribution house and vocational training with four state-of-the-art sound stages."
This is great news for Louisiana, as it's the second major announcement LIFT, along with Element Films have made in the last 30 days. They have also agreed to product a minimum of 8, and up to 15, movies over the next three years. All of the projects under the terms of agreement will be filmed in Louisiana.
