As if we didn't have enough of reality TV, now News Corp. (NWS) with its MySpace property has gotten together with DirectTV to offer Project MyWorld, an online reality show featuring 3 MySpace users circling the globe looking to meet some of their MySpace friends.
This could be one of the first look at what things to come will be in the continuing world of entertainment convergence. They took three beautiful young women and put them out on an adventure that each one had a personal reason for taking.
Concerning their reasons for taking the journey, TV with MeeVee says:
"One wants hot guys, one wants adventure, and the other conveniently wants to find really good unsigned bands."
With this being Rupert Murdoch's modus operandi throughout his media career, having his first show being one showing beautiful women traveling around the world isn't surprising.
The main point to me is with MySpace being one of the few properties available with the potential to reach a huge market, this will probably be the first of an endless array of online original TV offerings through the MySpace property.
MySpace will probably become the biggest TV station in the world.
