Marketed as the "first broadband television network to combine programmed content with user-generated videos and sharing tools," Voy TV, a digital media company offically launched Wednesday.
The online network was created to cater to the English-speaking Latino community.
"VOY was conceived as a brand, independent of any particular method of distribution, recognized for its ability to bring entertainment that resonates with the Latin mindset to audiences that are increasingly turning to digital media," said Fernando Espuelas, founder and CEO of VOY. "VOY TV takes advantage of broadband distribution to reach this underserved audience and connect with millions of viewers hungry for relevant content and social networking."
The Hispanic community in the U.S. has over 16 million Internet users,
with over 75 percent having access to broadband. In interesting statistic that I didn't know was that only 15 percent of Hispanics in the U.S. prefer Spanish-only Web sites.
The major reason Hispanics say they use the Internet is for cultural content.
