The Paramount Motion Picture Group announced on Monday that it has created a $300 million production fund with the investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort to make 30 movies, according to the New York Times.
This is the second time that Paramount has entered into this type of financial deal with Dresdner. In 2004 they also worked out a $225 million deal with the investment bank.
Paramount is looking at using the money to finance a minimum of 30 films for the 2006 and 2007 seasons under the labels of Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks SKG, MTV Films and Nick Movies.
All investors involved will receive a percentage of the returns from the films.
The creation of 30 films with $300 million, shows the direction and changes that Hollywood is going through. Investors are starting to demand that the projects make money; not just spend it. I can't remember the last time $300 million could buy 30 films.
