
The 40 year Star Trek auction celebration has ended and exceeded its expectations by more than double. For the three day auction Christies's New York took in $7.1 million.
The Star Trek model ship the Starship Enterprise-D sold for a record $576,000 in relationship to Star Trek memorabilia. the model was 78 inches long, and was used mostly in the Star Trek: The Next Generation series, and had appearances in Star Trek Generations, the first Next Generation movie.
Model lots were among the most desired as nine of them sold for over $100,000 each. The report is that not only the models did great, but basically every lot presented sold beyond the estimated catalogue value. Picard's Ressikan flute from The Inner Light, sold for $48,000.
For costumes, one of the most desired was Dr. McCoy's space suit from the original episode of the series which went for $144,000.
