
The Canadian broadcaster Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc.'s (AACb.PK) report a huge third-quarter profit that was 45 percent over last years total. The cause of the increase is the continuing performance of the "CSI" franchise.
The company also said that its subscriber sales increased as well, while its ad revenue dropped. The subscriber revenue grew by 10 percent while ad revenue lost 2.7 percent.
Net earnings from the combined crime shows were c$17.7 million ($15.7 million), or 42 cents Canadian a share. That's an increase of c$12.2 million, or 28 cents Canadian a share last year. Overall revenue for the company grew to c$323.5 million.
"October 2006 was the highest ad sales generating month ever for the company," CEO Phyllis Yaffe told analysts in a conference call. "For the full year, we expect ad revenue growth in the high single digits. In 2007, we expect continued growth, with ad revenues increasing in the high-single digits to low double-digit range."
