
Opening in only 837 theaters, Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," exploded into the No. 1 spot in ticket sales for the weekend with an estimated $26.4 million. It had a huge $31,511 in per-screen sales.
The Walt Disney Co.'s (DIS) "The Santa Clause 3: Escape Clause," came in second making around $20 million in its debut.
The Paramount Pictures' "Flushed Away," from its Dreamworks division scored the No. 3 spot for the weekend with a healthy $19.1 million take. It's an animated story about a mouse flushed down a toilet of a wealthy London apartment to encounter a tough group in the sewers of the city.
