Having fallen behind their rivals Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel, Cingular Wireless is said to be ready to announce that they have partered with "several online music services including Napster, Yahoo Music and eMusic, according to an article published Wednesday in The Wall Street Journal," said Cnet.
With the company being rumored to be building a partnership with Apple for a new iPod phone called the iPhone, it is correct to wonder
what it is they're thinking as far as strategy goes.
In the beginning of this service, the user won't be able to download direct to their phone, but will have to do it via computer; although eventually it will probably develop into a direct download service to the phone.
It seems that they are partnering with Apple to appeal to the core fans of the company, while expanding to a broader base of users with this deal with other online music services.
