EMI Music and Gotuit Media Corp. have reached a licensing agreement where Gotuit's ONline Video Portal and On-Demand Cable Service will be able to offer viewers music videos from EMI's various artists.
The deal, which is multiyear, has the two companies sharing advertising revenue generated from the Gotuit Web site. Only U.S. based Internet users will be allowed access to EMI's videos.
Gotuit offers videos, but not user-generated videos; so visitors won't be able to upload their own creations.
This seems to be somewhat of a message to YouTube as EMI Music spokeswoman Jeanne Meyer said concerning the company: "We're in
discussions with them, but we still feel there's copyright issues to be resolved."
The Universal Music Group also licenses video content to Gotuit.
