Freddy Rodriguez, the actor who plays Frederico "Rico" Diaz on the popular HBO drama "Six Feet Under," is keeping busy as he has two movies that have opened this month.
He plays the busboy in the story of the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in "Bobby," and also stars in the crime drama "Harsh Times," playing the best friend of a former military man that goes bad. They are both in the theaters now.
Rodriquez says that he's deliberately trying out different roles so that he doesn't fall into being typecast as some hispanic actors have been.
"As long as there is truth, there's going to be stereotypes in films, and actors who are going to play them. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that," he said. "But I always felt like my game plan was different. There just needs to be somebody who stands up and says, `I'm going to take a stand and not be that dude.'"
His next film will be in Quentin Tarantino's "Grindhouse," due to be released next year.
