New Luke and Laura special coming!

After being away from General Hospital for four years, Genie Francis' return as Laura Spencer a couple of weeks ago has boosted the shows ratings to their highest level since May.

Her return coincides with the 25 year anniversay of her marriage to Luke in the show, played by Tony Geary. The marriage ceremony 25 years ago drew 30 million viewers, which still holds the record to this day for daytime viewers.

Four years ago, Francis left the show in a battle concerning vacation time. With her insertion into the show, it has been promoted as a limited return, so we know Luke and Laura are going to somehow be heartbroken again.

Since her return the show has returned to the No. 1 position in the daytime among women 18-49 since May.

The show is averaging a 2.0 rating since Francis' return with a 12 share in the demographic. In the age group of women 18-24, "Hospital" has gained weekly and in total viewers.

Disney's SOAPnet, will show the 1981 wedding episode of Luke and Laura on November 24, along with a special “Luke and Laura 25: Something Old, Something New,” during a 5-hour marathon.
