Mel Gibson chastised Hollywood producers for the endless amount of offerings that involve "sequel after sequel." He added that the present movie goers are a lot smarter than studio heads give them credit for.
Before he ever released "Passion Of The Christ," Gibson said he knew he had a winner. He understood the desire by audiences to have something different to watch. The success of the film shows that he was right.
He told the entertainment magazine Empire, "I knew there was a huge hunger out
there for a different kind of film. I think that often at times people ignore the audience, they just keep serving them up the same thing. It's sequel after sequel after sequel.
"I think they're starving to death and they want to be enriched. They want a good yarn, they want to be involved."
Hollywood needs to take the advice of someone that knows.
