In a move made to help combat DVD piracy in China, News Corp. (NWS-A), through their 20th Century Fox film division will start to sell movies in China through Zoke Culture Group, which is the largest video distributor in China.
The 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment division will reportedly start with movies like "Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties" and
"X-Men: The Last Stand" this month with Zoke.
Other companies like Time Warner Inc. (TWX) are thinking about combating piracy through releasing DVDs in China at the same time movies are opening in the U.S.
When you think of this, it is way past times that the movie industry responded with practical solutions, like Disney has with recognizing that piracy must be considered a business model that they must compete with, rather than unproductively wasting their time looking for someone to sue.
