Promoted from the "controversial" angle, "The Da Vinci Code" is still a compelling story for consumers as it took over first place in the national DVD sales and Rental charts for the week ending November 19.
The animated popular movie "Cars" had been in the No. 1 position for DVD sales according to Nielsen Videoscan First Alert, before "The Da Vinci Code" knocked them out. The same with "Mission: Impossible III" which had occupied the No. 1
position for rentals on the Home Media Magazine's rental chart before The Da Vinci Code's debut. It has already earned $11 million in rental income.
For the "Family Guy: Volume 4" it started off at No. 3 on the sales chart, finishing up ahead of "Accepted." On the rental chart, "Accepted" opened up at No. 9, earning around $3.8 million.
