Citing a new report from Nielsen Media Research, Media Daily News reported that the first blending of TV ratings and Nieslen//NetRatings online user panel concludes that TV viewing is 8 percent lower in Internet users' homes in the U.S.
One interesting finding in the report is that the networks are not all affected the same.
"There are 6 networks that generate 10%+ higher ratings among online users; there are 20 networks that generate 20%+ lower ratings among online users."
With battles going on in other areas of research, especially in measuring DVR usage, this may promise to be the next area where battle lines will be drawn. Some networks will like the news and others won't. Some will be in stronger positions and others in weaker ones.
The Internet continues to disrupt everything in media.
