ABC News (DIS) and Yahoo (YHOO) have had a revenue-sharing deal for about a year. Continuing on and building upon that relationship, the two companies announced that ABC News will be their main video content provider as well. ABC will double the content they currently provide Yahoo. They will add breaking news clips and additional footage from "Good Morning America" and "20/20."
"The partnership is a strong driver of traffic and exposes our product to a different and larger audience," said Bernard Gershon, senior vice president and general manager of ABC News digital group.
While Yahoo News will also present content from a lot of other sites, this deal will ensure that ABC News gets "premium" placement on the page.
The two companies will continue to share revenue that Yahoo has placed next to the ABC video content.
In spite of all the negative press, Yahoo is still the most popular news site on the Web with 10.3 million uniuqe visitors during the week ending Nov. 26, according to Nielsen//NetRatings.
ABC News also has other content-sharing deal with AOL (TWX), Comcast (CMCSA), and Verizon (VZ).
