American Indian groups have handed out a lot of praise and appreciation for the way Mel Gibson went about making the Disney (DIS) movie Apocalypto.
His insistence on looking for and finding indigenous cast for the movie has sent a message to them that they readily embrace.
Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby said: "It is very important to note that Mr. Gibson has gone to great lengths to cast indigenous people in this film, this not
only helps make the film more realistic, it serves as an inspiration to Native American actors who aspire to perform relevant roles in the film industry."
Gibson had people looking all over Mexico, including Mexico City, Oaxaca, Veracruz, and many other locations.
The film has been receiving mostly positive reviews. It does include a lot of violence in it.
