The public's hunger for DVD versions of old TV series doesn't seem like it's going to abate any time soon, as their number keep growing and growing.
This year alone, there are 158 new first seasons being offered for sale, increasing from the 137 offered in 2005.
Some of the new series offered this year are "Hill Street Blues," "Perry Mason," "I Dream of Jeannie," "The Wild Wild West," "F Troop," "The Bill Cosby Show," "Beverly Hills, 90210," "Melrose Place" and "Boston Legal."
With the business taking in over $3 billion a year, it's surprising at some of the names just being entered into the mix.
"It used to come as a surprise when some really obscure TV series would get the full-season treatment, but there are so many arriving each month that the novelty of it has worn off," DVD Release Report editor Ralph Tribbey said. "That's a good
sign that maybe 2007 will find 'Route 66' or '77 Sunset Strip' on someone's announce list."
It looks like this is going to be one of Hollywood's solid growth areas for awhile, as they continue to dig into their archives to offer shows to people that want to buy back some of their memories.
