Morgan Freeman's online movie-download business ClickStar, has scored a coup as it signed on three major players in early days of the young business.
Freeman has been working hard behind the scenes trying to convince the big studios that they can make a lot of money on the Web with movie downloads. At the same time, he's working on showing them that it will also help them to guard against piracy if they offered them online.
The studios that are signed up are "Sony (SNE), Warner Bros. (TWX) and Universal(GE) and will offer 'hundreds,' the announcement said, of movies for download
purchase and rent ... Titles include: 'The DaVinci Code,' 'Superman Returns' and 'Miami Vice,' as well as older films."
This will give the company hundreds of films to offer potential customers. It'll be interesting to see if Freeman's connection to the project gives it some strong impetus going forward.
