Another American Idol finalist from season five has been signed to a recording contract. Bucky Covington was signed by Lyric Street Records to make him the eighth person from season to receive that honor.
Covington said, "People don't realize that when they pick up the phone to vote they're helping to make someone's dream come true. So when Mark Miller (lead singer for Sawyer Brown) called me the day after I got voted off American Idol to
tell me that I sounded great on the show, I couldn't believe it!
His first single is scheduled for release on Jan. 16 and is called, "A Different World." Miller will be the producer of the album which hasn't been named yet.
He also performed for the American Idol Live tour and also on the GAC Country Music Christmas tour. From there he moved to Nashville to look for a contract and start his recording career.
The Lyric Street label also represents the popular band Rascal Flatts, who had the best-selling album of 2006 in "Me and My Gang."
